Please help save jobs at the EHRC

23/1/2017

I am writing to ask for your help to save the jobs of our members Angela and Zahid.

They have both worked for the EHRC for many years and have been loyal and hardworking members of staff, proud to work for an independent statutory body, with the responsibility to encourage equality and diversity, eliminate unlawful discrimination, and promote and protect the human rights of everyone in Britain.

Angela and Zahid are Unite reps and have a history of representing the interests of their fellow workers and making sure they are being treated fairly at work. But it is now their interests that we need to support as they both face being forced out of work through compulsory redundancy - and this treatment from an organisation who's role it is to make rights and freedoms available to all.
Please join us in our campaign and email the Chief Executive and the Chair of the Board to intervene and stop these unnecessary job losses.

Given the state of our economic and financial climate, we know that these workers will face huge challenges in finding new jobs. They really shouldn't be treated like this and we believe that the EHRC should be valuing their skills and knowledge and the many years service they have given.
There is no need for these compulsory redundancies. The Commission has 30 unfilled vacancies and has had more than enough volunteers to exit the organisation. Angela and Zahid want to carry on working at the Commission in jobs that they enjoy.
Please help us to save these jobs and call a halt to the compulsory redundancies. You can send the email to the Chief Executive and Chair of the Board here.

Your support really will make a difference.
