All candidates seeking nomination for UNITE General Secretary election had been invited to the February branch meeting to discuss their nomination. Gerard Coyne’s campaign had apologised and Len McCluskey’s campaign hadn’t responded. Ian Allinson attended and spoke and answered questions after which he left the room and the branch discussed and then voted unanimously to nominate Ian.
